RIVER TEES CROFT

Our fishing rights at Croft on the river Tees extends from Croft Road Bridge downstream to Hurworth, mostly both banks totalling approximately 5 miles of prime river fishing.

Most if not all species of river fish reside here in good numbers with Barbel and Bream both to over 10lb, lots of Chub in 3lb region with some going over 4lb.

This stretch of water is our main venue for competitions so please check match dates before fishing, whilst there are lots of good pegs these vary according to time of year and conditions, so much so that some of our best and most ardent match anglers have difficulty in predicting how particular pegs might fish on any given day with the winner usually coming from somewhere unexpected. The current competition record for Croft is 63lb set in 2006.

During the summer months there are usually good bags of Dace & Roach with occasional Barbel, these seem to mostly disappear in winter when the Chub fishing can be extremely good.

A mid week trip to this venue might well find you with not another soul in sight and miles of likely looking pools and runs to explore, and if the fishing happens to disappoint, you could always watch the local wildlife.

This is the stretch of water that John Wilson chose to feature so successfully in the Angling Times with only one days fishing managing to fill the features page for a month. Some of the photographs from which can be viewed in the gallery section.
