RIVER SWALE CATTERICK
The fishing at Catterick totals approximately one & half miles, some of which is both banks and extends North Bank upstream from the A1 road bridge for ½ mile and South Bank from the fence end between the road bridges upstream for 1 mile round the back of Brompton Village.
The fishing here is mixed with a good head of both coarse fish predominately Grayling Chub and Barbel (there used to be good Dace shoals but these have all but disappeared) and Trout in decent numbers some of which really scream the line from the reel.
Again this stretch of river is all gravel and bedrock constantly changing between riffles glides and small pools.
Whilst all the traditional forms of bait fishing are used and catch fish the South bank above the wood to the top marker is especially suited and varied enough to bring a smile to the face of any would be fly angler while he passes away a few hours usually undisturbed.
